Interface and WRI
Interface Journal has drawn on a number of sources in its coverage of wheel/rail interaction over the years. One of the most significant and comprehensive sources of information on the topic has been the annual Wheel Rail Interaction Conference series founded by Gordon Bachinsky and produced by Wheel Rail Seminars.
For over 20 years, the conferences have brought together industry professionals including railroaders from Track, Mechanical and Operations Departments, suppliers, and researches in order to share practical information on wheel/rail interface management. Many of these presenters and presentations have contributed to Interface articles. But Interface, through editor-in-chief Bob Tuzik, has also contributed to the conferences.
For the past 10 years, Bob Tuzik has worked closely with Gordon Bachinsky to develop the WRI conference program — helping to select speakers and topics, review papers, as well as moderate the presentations themselves. In in order to acknowledge this long-standing relationship as well as to facilitate future collaborative efforts, Interface Journal and Wheel Rail Seminars are now working together more closely. Interface will be sharing additional content with the WRS website and will soon host an archive of presentations from past seminars.
The core mission and editorial ethos of Interface remain unchanged. The journal will continue to publish freely accessible articles relating to all aspects of wheel/rail interaction.
